The Killebrew-Thompson Memorial (KTM) is dedicated to raising funds for leukemia and cancer research. Through our annual charity events in Idaho and Minnesota, we raise critical funds that support innovative cancer research and patient care at the Masonic Cancer Center, University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and St. Luke’s Cancer Institute in Boise, Idaho.
Since its founding, KTM has donated nearly $26 million directly to cancer research and patient care. Our beneficiaries amplify this impact by leveraging KTM donations through matching grants—often multiplying each dollar three- to five-fold—bringing the overall effect of our annual giving to the million-dollar level and beyond.
St. Luke’s Cancer Institute (SLCI) brings cutting-edge clinical trials to Idaho and the Northwest. A member of Children’s Oncology Group, SLCI provides access to experimental treatments usually only available at hospitals in larger metropolitan areas. Clinical trials often require participating hospitals to invest in specialized medical equipment and prescribe expensive, experimental therapies not covered by patients’ medical insurance. Funds contributed by KTM cover these research-related costs, enabling patients and St. Luke’s Cancer Institute itself to participate in studies they could not otherwise afford.
Masonic Cancer Center (MCC) is advancing cancer care beyond the chemotherapy and radiation treatments of the past. Designated by the National Cancer Institute as a comprehensive cancer center, one of only 51 institutions in the country, MCC is preeminent in the research of cell therapies to treat leukemia and solid tumor cancers. It is the first to treat cancer patients with gene modified off-the-shelf Natural Killer (NK) cells. Support from KTM seeds high impact studies that contribute to the worldwide research community and improve quality of life for patients and survivors.
